What's Custom?

Custom Photo Services is a full service custom lab.
"Custom" means that everything we do is done by hand and with utmost concern for quality. "Full service" means that we offer many, many services that you can't get anywhere else. We offer color enlargements of any size up to 24" x 30", and black and white enlargements up to 16"x20". We can print any negative up to 4x5 inches.

Since every print is done by hand, we can exercise the utmost control over the print quality. For instance, we can make your enlargement lighter or darker, with more or less color saturation, and with your choice of three different surfaces. Washed out areas can be darkened and dark faces can be lightened. We can also crop images to your specifications and leave margins on the print to allow for framing. At Custom Photo Services we guarantee the highest quality; in fact we are often pickier about our printing than our customers.

Problems with Standard Sizes?

Since the shape of a 35mm negative is quite elongated, it means that when you order a standard-sized print, like 8x10 (which is not as long); some of your image will be cropped off in order to fill the space of the paper. If you want your entire image printed at a standard photo lab, you can either get a 4x6 or a 8x12, but even these are not exactly the shape of a 35mm frame. At Custom Photo Services, we offer other solutions. You can choose from three custom printing methods for printing negatives "full frame". Two of these options actually create a nice looking white margin around the image and gives it the look of a matted frame. There are many other possibilities too, we can work with your ideas.
Leftmost: Full Frame with black border
Middle: Full Frame with White border
Right: Full Frame with side margin

Our prices for custom prints include any manipulation such as dodging, burning, cropping, special borders, and paper surfaces. Duplicate prints are 50% off, except for large quantities.

No Negative?

No negative, no problem. We can create a 4x5", high-definition negative from your original print in both black & white, and color. Very often we make beautiful new negatives for people with antique photos, and since we can also print any black and white negative on old fashioned sepia toned paper, your duplicate just may look better than the original.

Restoration

As of late we have been able to restore old photographs through the use of our state-of-the-art digital imaging system. We scan the original print at a high resolution and remove the spots, the rips, the unwanted people, and then print it out on our high resolution printer, and finally create a new negative from this print. This is an important step that many labs don't offer, because, once we have made the negative from the restored printout, we can then print it on old fashioned sepia toned paper or genuine color photographic paper and make it look once again like a photograph.
